Edwardian Corset Padding
Almost two years after I sewed the project and wore it to the event, I finally returned to finish my blog post about it. The big Art Nouveau Vampire project is indefinitely shelved, but one of these days I will come back to it…
After making the corset, I decided to work on the padding and do a bit of a test run of my ideas for this vampire concept.
Using things I had on hand, I made bust and hip padding. I used this wool as the filler, and it worked pretty well, although I do not think I would want to use it again since the result was a bit warmer and sweatier than I think other options would be.
The padding worked well, and since this was the first time I had ever used padding before, I was very impressed with the results.
I quickly added elastic garters to the corset to fix the problem I was having of the bottom front flipping up and standing out. This issue was probably caused by the fact that I used a zipper busk and zipties, meaning that the front of the corset was much too flexible to hold the intended ‘s-bend’ kind of shape.
The outfit came together very quickly and without many photos.
BUT it was a success!
